AI Form Filler Chrome Extensions Compared
"Form filler extension" covers very different tools. One fills your own name and card from what Chrome saved. Another is a password manager that also stores profiles. A third fills job applications from your resume. A fourth reads a client's passport photo and fills a visa form with it. They are not competing for the same job, and picking the wrong kind is the usual reason a form filler gets uninstalled after a week.
We build FillWise, one of the tools below, so read this as a vendor's view. Every claim about the other tools comes from their own websites, help pages and Chrome Web Store listings as of September and October 2026, and from the longer comparisons we wrote for each of them, linked in each section. Where a listing does not mention something, we say "not listed" rather than "no".
The one question that sorts them
Where does the data come from? Every form filler needs a source. There are three kinds:
- A profile you saved once. Your own name, address, email, card. Chrome autofill and password managers work this way. Fast, free or cheap, and limited to the person and fields you saved.
- A structured record. A resume, a CRM entry, a spreadsheet row. Job-application fillers and tab-to-tab transfer tools read these.
- Whatever you have right now. An email from a client, notes, a photo of a passport, a PDF. AI fillers read the source and match it to the form's labels, so nothing has to be saved first.
If you only ever fill forms about yourself, kind 1 is enough. If the person changes every time, you need kind 3.
Chrome autofill
Built into Chrome, free, and fills recognised standard fields (name, address, phone, email, card) from your saved profile and Google Wallet. It runs on any page as you type.
- Good for: your own checkout and sign-up forms.
- Where it stops: only your saved data, only standard fields, no free-text questions, no PDF forms, one person per profile.
More: Chrome autofill vs FillWise.
RoboForm
A password manager first: passwords, passkeys and cards across all major browsers and devices, with zero-knowledge encryption. It also keeps identity profiles and fills forms from them.
- Good for: one place for passwords and your own details, on every device.
- Where it stops: fills only what its saved profiles cover, a profile per person, PDF forms not listed.
- Price: free plan with unlimited passwords on one device, paid from $2.49 a month billed yearly.
More: RoboForm vs FillWise.
Simplify Copilot
Built for job seekers. It autofills job applications on applicant tracking systems and job boards from your saved profile and resume, and adds resume and cover letter tools and an application tracker.
- Good for: sending many job applications with the same profile. Autofill is free per its listing.
- Where it stops: job applications only; PDF forms and documents as a source are not listed.
More: Simplify vs FillWise.
Magical
Known for text expansion and moving data between tabs: open a record in one tab and transfer mapped fields into a form in another. As of September 2026 the company presents itself as AI agents for healthcare operations and its pricing page goes to "Book a demo"; the extension is still in the Web Store.
- Good for: support and outreach teams that send templated messages, and tab-to-tab transfer from a structured record.
- Where it stops: documents as a source and PDF forms are not listed; a new portal means new field mapping; pricing is not public.
More: Magical alternative.
Instafill.ai
Not a Chrome extension: a web app where you upload a form and your data. It fills fillable, flat and scanned PDFs and Word forms, from text, profiles, PDF, Word, Excel, CSV or images, and adds e-signatures and shared workspaces.
- Good for: document-heavy teams that live in PDFs and Word files, including teams that need a HIPAA BAA (on its Unlimited plan).
- Where it stops: web forms on other sites are not listed; the free plan is a demo of the first two pages without download.
- Price: from $99 a month for 50 documents; API and MCP from $299 a month.
More: Instafill alternative.
FillWise
A Chrome side panel. Open any form, paste text in any format or attach a photo, scan or PDF, press Fill form. The AI reads the source and the form's labels and fills the fields: text, dropdowns, checkboxes and radio buttons.
- Good for: forms about someone else: clients, travellers, new hires. Different person each time, no profile to save first.
- Also: several people in one paste (a family on a visa form lands in each person's section), fillable and flat PDFs, open questions answered from your text with nothing made up (how that works), Bulk fill of one PDF for every row of a table in the web account, an API and an MCP server on every plan.
- Where it stops: Chrome only; no passwords or cards; no Word forms; scanned PDFs fill, but placement needs a check in the editor.
- Price: Free plan with 20 fills to start, then 5 a week; paid from $19 a month for 100 fills.

Which one, by situation
You fill checkout and sign-up forms for yourself. Chrome autofill. It is free and already there.
You want passwords and your details on every device. A password manager such as RoboForm.
You are applying for jobs. Simplify, for the free autofill and the tracker. FillWise helps with the long-answer boxes if you want answers written from your own notes.
You fill forms for other people from emails, notes or documents. An AI filler that reads the source. That is the case FillWise is built for: travel agents with passports, immigration and legal teams with client intake notes, HR moving new hires into enrolment forms.
Your work is all PDF and Word, inside one web app. Instafill fits, especially with Word forms or a HIPAA requirement.
What to check before you trust any filler
- Whose data it can use. Saved-profile tools cannot fill a form for a client whose details you have never saved.
- What it does on a field it does not understand. A good filler leaves it empty. A bad one guesses.
- Free-text answers. If it writes sentences, check that nothing in them is new to you.
- Where your data goes. On FillWise, web form data goes to our server for the AI and is not stored; fillable PDFs are read in your browser and only the field list goes to the server. Details on privacy and security.
- Read the filled form before you submit. On any tool.
FAQ
Is there a free AI form filler extension? Chrome autofill is free but not AI and only uses your saved data. FillWise has a Free plan: 20 fills to start, then 5 a week, no card needed.
Can a form filler fill a PDF? Chrome autofill cannot. FillWise fills fillable PDFs field by field and places values on flat PDFs, with an editor to adjust them. Instafill works with PDFs in its web app.
Which one reads a passport or ID photo? Of the tools here, FillWise reads photos, scans and PDFs of documents as a source, including IDs in non-Latin scripts. The other extensions' listings do not mention it.
Does FillWise store passwords? No. It fills forms and nothing else. Keep your password manager for that.
Add FillWise to Chrome and try it on a form you filled by hand last week.
